Himself says that when he sits the Help Desk he hates seeing "Public Health" come up on the caller ID because they're so unrelentingly dim. And since the PH main office is the same building as the county nursing home, I'd probably be expected to go see the MIL fairly often, maybe even eat my lunches with her or something. Bleh. But on the plus side, it pays $13 dollars an hour. At this point I'd be MIL's roomie for $13 an hour.
Himself had me write a hardship letter to the mortgage company yesterday. He faxed it with a summary of our monthly expenses, asking for some slack with our mortgage payment. We're only one month behind now--not even behind, actually, just late. It's better to let them know right off the bat that we're having trouble rather than let them think we're just blowing it off.
I also have to re-do the 2005 and 2006 taxes and try to figure out some legitimate way to get out from under the IRS who are never inclined to grant any slack. I told Himself I was willing to just show up at Leavenworth and check myself in for a couple of years if the IRS would accept that instead of money. I'm not worth anything around here as it is and that way I'd be a ward of the feds. They'd have to cover my medical expenses while I was there. But he got all grinchy, even though I tried to convince him I was joking.
Krissegon offered us a loan of $1000. That's so like him! I miss him so. Not a week goes by that I don't wish he could bring his family back here to live. Phone and email just isn't the same as sitting across the table from him, hearing him break out in song or rhymes at odd moments. He'll be here in July, though, and Himself promises we'll game if we have to lasso the mad scot and everyone else and rope them into chairs. The old man may even make it up from Texas, if gas prices don't get much higher. It costs over a $100 to fill his big pick-up these days.
Cyd Cherise died this week. :-( I loved watching her dance, even with that tiny tyrant Gene Kelly. Prego has had links to several You Tube clips of her, dance numbers from her movies and tribute videos. Wow, she had so much class. And was it just the way she knew how to move and position her body that made her legs look so much longer that any other woman's? Watching her dance, it seems like she had to be seven feet tall and five of it were legs. But she dances with Gene and Fred, neither of whom were above average height, and she's just the right height for them. Of course, with Gene she's wearing flats. But still...
And one of my fav blogs shut down. The Treehouse Doll a Day. I don't know the lady who runs it, but I loved seeing snaps of her dolls and hearing their stories and little character sketches. It's the same person who does the Miranda Wandering blog, which I also love. She calls herself the Priestess of Nothing. I shot off a little email when I saw the blog was gone.
To the Priestess of Nothing, from one of your many anonymous fans:
I was very much enjoying your Treehouse Doll of the Day. What
happened? I hope all is well with you.
A couple of weeks later got a very sweet reply.
Well, there's a little story for you. She didn't know I was out here enjoying her efforts, and I didn't know that my email would come to her at a time when she could most use a little ego-boo. The moral of this story is...well, I don't know. But it's a sweet one, I'm sure.Hi Robin!Wow, well thank you! I don't have a counter on the blogs or anything, so I never really know how many people read them. I love hearing from strangers who say "I was reading your blog..." so thank you!
Sorry about Doll a Day, my relationship fell a part is what happened. I'll be moving in early November (oh, there'll be doll stories about that, believe you me) and I realized there was no way I was going to be able to hoard... erm... um, collect all three hundred and sixty five dolls that project would've taken. So I gave up. Things will be okay, and it's going to be awesome, actually, but for now it's a little wonky and there just wasn't any way to pull off the whole Doll a Day thing. :(
Sorry about that. I'm glad you were enjoying it, though. I'm back in the swing of things and should be updating Miranda Wandering more frequently now (well, Miranda will be. I think she's throwing me off the blog.) so there'll still be dolly stuff to read.Anyway, thank you so much for letting me know you read and enjoyed the blog. It means a lot, and I kinda needed to hear that just as you were sending your email. Don't know how you knew, but thanks. :)
And just because I haven't added a snap in a while, here's a cool pic from a Prego-er of Ellowyne "wallowing in white":
